With an extraordinary year and major accomplishments, both teams were viciously anxious for this year’s national championships. The D1’s first game was against North Texas. It was obvious that the knights came to play with an impressive 10-1 victory. The B team’s first match up was against powerhouse UMSL, and they unfortunately had a close loss. The D1 squad faced Regional Champion Colorado State in the first round. Realizing it was do or die, the Knights came out on fire and was victorious with a 10-4 final. The D1 team made a strong run and ended up making the sweet 16. The B team finished the tournament with a back to back final four appearance. They will be looking to make a 3 peat next year with yet another final four appearance, and the help of a strong incoming freshman class.

After a snowy weekend in Atlanta, it was time to forget about the past and look to the future. The regular season is history and it all comes down to the biggest tournament of the year, The NCRHA National Championships. The playoff beards started, treadmills brought out of storage, and the jocks and socks stay unwashed!! Even with such a massive tournament coming up, everyone still needs to have a little fun. First off the entire team participated in the UCF Relay for Life.Lastly, with an entire season of everyone bonding on and around the rink, it was finally time to do some quality team building off the rink as well. Paintball was the majority vote, and after an amazing night it is understandable why.

Amidst being stuck in the middle of Atlanta’s 2nd worst snow storm in history, the UCF Knights won the South East Regional Championships. Entering the tournament as the top seed, the knights had an easy run through the weekend. This is the 8th D1 regional championship title UCF has won in the past 12 years. The B team has also won the regional championship this year to help fulfill the back to back wins in both divisions. Both teams are now headed to Philadelphia, PA for the national championships April 1st through the 5th.

UCF Roller Hockey is a dynasty! Established over 10 years ago, the UCF hockey team has grown into something magnificent. We are a sport club at The University of Central Florida. We compete in the South East Region during the regular season against other colleges. We then travel to nationals and compete against colleges from all around the country. UCF Roller Hockey is a very well established organization. We have two teams that compete. Each team carries 10 skaters and 2 goalies. Our organization is headed by Toby Karn. We practice indoors at Orlando, FL premier hockey facility, Universal Skating Center. The UCF Roller Hockey organization is expected to grow even larger in the next few years. We are working on finding local sponsors here in Orlando, FL, as well as national corporate sponsors to help us complete our budgets. Both the A and the B team are the South Eastern Regional Champions. The A team Has won the Regional Championships 7 of the past 11 years. Both teams also competed in the NCRHA National Tournament in Colorado Spings, April 11-19. The A team Made it all the way to the final four with two playoff upsets. The B team took 2nd in the nation with a loss to Lindenwood in the finals. Please stay tuned for Fall tryout times and dates!!
